2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Overview (Non AMG).

    From inventing the first car, and winning the first auto race, Mercedes-Benz has engineered cars to pass numerous tests of performance and safety, but most of all - the test of time. More than 60 years ago Mercedes-Benz created the totally new class of automobile, which created a benchmark for a Standard, by which all cars are measured. For eight generations, the E-Class has been more than a dream car – it’s been what other cars have been dreaming to be. Redesigned 2010 E Class is possibly the most technologically advanced production automobile ever built. It has its own intelligence.

    Powertrain:
    Impressively powerful gasoline engines: 268-hp V 6 and 382-hp V 8 offer low emissions and improved fuel efficiency. The 50 State BlueTEC clean diesel V 6 sedans generate massive torque with the lower greenhouse-gas emissions than equivalent gasoline engines. Engines only call on their alternator and power steering pump as needed, sipping less gas.

    Drivetrain:
    All models have time-proven Rear-Wheel Drive design. E350 4MATIC and E550 4MATIC Sedans offer the all-season, all-road assurance of an All-Wheel Drive system that adds minimal weight. The E550 Coupe’s Dynamic Handling suspension alters the damping rates, accelerator response and shift points, all at the tap of a single button.

    Agility control:
    Mercedes-Benz says that it can study and outsmart the road. Agility control suspension reads the road surface and adapts to it. AGILITY CONTROL and AIRMATIC suspension reacts to the road surface, immediately recalibrating for the most satisfying balance of sharp and agile.

    Transmission:
    7 speed automatic transmission adapts to your driving style, shifting as it knows your behavior.

    Safety:
    2010 Mercedes-Benz E Class comes with an unprecedented array of the safety features:
    - Body structure:
    Both the sedan and pillarless coupe body structures are capable to manage both weight and impact forces by utilizing ultra-high-strength steel in critical areas!
    - Up to 11 airbags.
    No other car in its class offers air bag protection in more locations: nine standard air bags, 7 including a driver’s knee air bag, plus new pelvic air bags to go together with the front-seat side-impact air bags. Rear-seat side-impact air bags are also optional, but curtain airbags can provide enough protection!
    - Optional DISTRONIC PLUS:
    New generation of the cruise control goes to new levels of convenience, it has ability to slow the car to a full halt if traffic ahead stops, and then resume automatically!
    - PRE-SAFE Brake:
    Included with DISTRONIC PLUS has radar-based sensors that can identify an imminent collision and automatically apply 100% of the vehicle’s braking force to help avoid and reduce the severity of impact even without needed reaction on your part!
    - PRE-SAFE:
    It can detect, during certain vehicle maneuvers that a frontal collision is coming! It can then prepare itself and passengers for an impact: tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front head restraints and passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof!
    - ADAPTIVE Headlights:
    It’s using a camera to detect vehicles ahead; optional Adaptive High Beam Assist varies the headlamp range continuously, to take full advantage of illumination of the road without creating glare for other drivers!
    - ATTENTION ASSIST:
    Standard on all E Class models, constantly monitors driving behavior, and can alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of the driver drowsiness on long trips!
    - LANE KEEPING Assist:
    Lets the driver of an E Class Sedan know if unintentional drifting off-course is detected, by vibrating the steering wheel!
    - BLIND SPOT Assist:
    By monitoring the blind spots to either side of the E–Class Sedan when driving above 18 mph, this option can alert the driver of some otherwise unnoticed vehicles in the next lane!
    - NECK-PRO:
    Active front head restraints help reduce whiplash injuries.

    The E Class Sedans:
    New muscular and modern design with the four aggressively squared headlamps and arrow-shaped hood replaced the previous rounded shapes. Wide LED tail lamps complete the figure. The six sedans of the Mercedes-Benz 2010 E Class are divided in Sport and Luxury editions. Sport Sedans take to the road with 18" wheels and a sport-tuned framework, while Luxury Sedans feature more comfort-oriented tuning and elegant 17" wheels. The E550 Sedans travel on AIRMATIC adaptive air suspension. Choices in power include a 50 state BlueTEC clean diesel, plus gasoline V 6 and V-8 models that are also offered with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

    The E Class Coupes:
    The first E Class Coupe in 15 years receives a grille-mounted Star to accent its sportiness as a true coupe. It has aerodynamic wind-taming and pillarless design, which helps achieve a wind drag coefficient of just 0.28. Four side windows fully retract from windshield to rear window – there is no pillar in between. The Standard all-glass Panorama sunroof opens the entire view of the sky.

    Toys:
    Polished wood and chrome trim go together with the precisely double-stitched upholstery. A multifunction steering wheel and the central controller of the COMAND system with the most commonly used functions are easy to reach. Both: a power glass sunroof and a hands-free Bluetooth interface are the standard equipment. Just to name a few: 14-way power front seats with the signature seat-shaped controls, 4 way power lumbar support and 3 position memory, Harman/Kardon sound, standard in dash 6 disc DVD/CD changer, 610–watt LOGIC7 audio system with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, plus SIRIUS Satellite Radio and SIRIUS Traffic service, Navigation with the standard 7" color-LCD display and a 40GB hard drive, the available navigation system includes Zagat Survey ratings for restaurants, hotels and golf courses, memory card, iPod connectivity, 6GB, in dash hard drive and paddle shifters...
